Sarah Magruder is the Founder and President of Savvy Oil and Gas Consulting, a firm she built on decades of leadership in severance tax strategy, compliance, and recovery.

Her career began as a founding member of Ryan & Company’s newly launched severance tax practice, where she helped grow the division into a multimillion-dollar operation within three years. She held key tax and accounting roles at Swift Energy and Southwestern Energy before being recruited to build and lead KE Andrews severance tax practice. Under her direction, that practice also became a multimillion-dollar enterprise.

Combining her deep technical expertise with experience in management and decision-making roles within operating companies, Sarah founded Savvy with a mission to offer clients smarter, strategically focused solutions for severance tax compliance, reporting, and recovery. Under her leadership, Savvy has become known for its ability to identify opportunities, improve accounting processes, and help clients recoup overpaid taxes.

Sarah graduated from LSU with a degree in Finance and earned an MBA from the University of Houston. She is currently serving as an instructor for the University of North Texas Professional Development Experience (PDX) “Introduction to Severance Tax” course.
